Criteria:
Objectivity :
Beginning
School Year 2007-2008, Mukul Management
Committee, in collaboration with Mukul Teachers
and OCDSB Site Administrator, has attempted to
bring more objectivity and transparency to the
student selection process for Class Achievement
Awards. The details are provided below:
- All Class
Achievement Awards are based on OCDSB Report
Cards, as per previous years
- The Report
Card has the following components:
-
Academic Performance consisting of
Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening
-
Awareness consisting of
Cultural Understanding, Participation,
Cooperation and Respect for Learning
Environment
- Completeness consisting of
Punctuality and Completion of Tasks
-
To align
to the above criteria, weights were assigned
to the above components as below:
-
Academic Performance - 40%
-
Awareness - 30%
-
Completeness - 30%
- A
spreadsheet was created to arrive at a
cumulative student performance value based
on OCDSB ratings of A, B, C & D
and by assigning numeric
equivalents to these ratings (A=4,
B=3, C=2, D=1).
- The
Student Name was masked, when the
data was entered into the spreadsheet,
to improve the objectivity.
- The
individual student report cards were entered
into this spreadsheet, to arrive at the
cumulative score for every student. Mukul
Teachers are responsible to enter these and
assistance was provided by the Site
Administrator/Mukul Management Committee
where required.
- The
TOP 4 Students were selected for the
Class Achievement Award. In the case of
SPLIT Grades Grade 5 & 6 and Grades 7 & 8)
the TOP 2 Students per Grade
were selected for the Class Achievement
Award.
As this is
the first year of the process, it was decided to
recognize all students who scored in the TOP 4
(or TOP 2) Cumulative Scores. This will be
revised/revisited in the coming years.
